ITS refers to a wide range of technologies that work together to make our roads safer and show crucial information. It improves safety for everyone, including vehicles, bicyclists, and pedestrians. Road traffic safety systems are made up of numerous ITS technologies that lower the likelihood of accidents, injuries, and fatalities on the road. These systems have many moving parts and pieces because they use advanced communication, sensor, and radar technologies to transfer information.

All of this contributes to better real-time traffic management, shorter travel times, faster incident response, and other benefits. Some examples of advancements in road safety technology include Wi-Fi antennas and Bluetooth devices, encrypted license plate readers, CCTV cameras, microwave vehicle detection systems (MVDS), dynamic message signs (DMS), road weather information systems (RWIS), and connected vehicles (CV).
Emerging technologies: V2I and V2V communication are among the latest innovations in ITS, enabling data exchange between roadside infrastructure and vehicles to enhance mobility and safety.
